“Truth is what you have to sacrifice the most for”

In a time of social and psychic derangement, where the individual as well as society are crushed by unknown inner forces, there is nothing for the thinking man to do but to vivisect pieces of his living self, stuff them with thought and fix them in words.

-“What is truth?” Truth is what you have to sacrifice the most for.

-Surreal: let’s be realistic about this: not everything in reality is really as real as it seems.  Do you realize?

-All thinking is verbal? You’re supposed to say what you think, not think what you say.

-A problem is often compounded by its distorted reflection in our mind.

-There’s no greater hero than the man who is able to live through his own psychological apocalypse.

-To the Japanese learner: one kanji a day keeps illiteracy away.

-Lived in: some people live in their faces, some in their necks, some in their bellies.  Worst of all, some live further south.

-Do you have the patience? the greatest beauty is found at the end of the tunnel of ugliness.

-Genteel masochism: Most people avoid violence but commit terrible violence on their own souls.

-A man first learns to think, and he is wise. Then he unlearns thinking, and he is enlightened.

-When clichés come true: A time of tears and grimaces will teach a person the value of a smile.

-Intellectual grit: Only by strict discipline and self-obedience can you get rid of intellectual flab.

One man stage: A person who acts even when he is by himself will find it difficult to become self-aware.

Typical typology? There are basically two types of men – truth-centered men, and interest-centered men.

Living, breathing, eating philosophy. From a philosophical point of view, there’s no reason to live.  Except during lunchtime, that is.

The morning is beautiful-only if you’ve had a good night’s sleep!

Paying your dues to the fourth dimension: why is it so difficult to squeeze work out of time?

Does it matter? we are human precisely because we realize we are human.

Men are killed by life.

Silence speaks volumes. From now on I’ll only use words to talk about words and not about mysteries.

To see the ray of light in the layers of darkness, and the drop of hope and in the wreckage of dispair is a severe but fruitful art.

We pluck courage, therefore we live.

One Response to Aphorisms under Siege

The English aphorisms are amazing. I’m sure the Arabic’s good too :)
